Dancing to Memory

In partnership with the Faculdade de Motricidade Humana (Faculty of Human Kinetics), the project “Dancing to Memory” seeks to work with concepts such as choreographic heritage, legacy, repertoire and archive.

In the choice of the piece, we considered representative choreographies of the “new Portuguese dance” in light of a study of atmospheres in which the pieces arose and of the universes of their authors that approach Portuguese contemporary dance as a whole rather than the intention of partial reconstructions.

Students will be accompanied in a studio work in an appeal usually identified as a repertoire exercise, and also in the search and reenactment of archives with the social contexts in which the pieces originally appeared.

As from this perspective we challenge students to create a coherent performance that will premiere this year at the CUMPLICIDADES Festival 2020.
