I Could Write a Song

"We speak nothing more than about ourselves". This is the phrase of the French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan who has undoubtedly influenced this monologue of choreographer and performer Nuno Lucas.
This time he is alone on stage. But he summons characters that haunted and haunt him still, evoking them to the present. His grandmother, his parents, girlfriends, friends, co-workers, mates, strangers are all part of the universe of this Portuguese immigrant living in Paris. These are not just recitations of memories or personal facts but a poetic and playful plunge into the inner space of our emotions.
All of these experiences are converted into a semantic field of words creating a rhythm that might seem like a song ("I Could Write a Song"). A score of words that are a call to the interiority of each spectator. Nuno Lucas departs from simple situations, sometimes anecdotes, that cannot help but make the public revisit their own stories. In an attempt to create bonds of intimacy and closeness to something unknown to us.
